Robust Sparse Fourier Transform Based on The Fourier Projection-Slice Theorem

چکیده
The state-of-the-art automotive radars employ multidimensional discrete Fourier transforms (DFT) in order to estimate various target parameters. The DFT is implemented using the fast Fourier transform (FFT), at sample and computational complexity of O(N) and O(N logN), respectively, where N is the number of samples in the signal space. We have recently proposed a sparse Fourier transform based on the Fourier projection-slice theorem (FPS-SFT), which applies to multidimensional signals that are sparse in the frequency domain. FPS-SFT achieves sample complexity of O(K) and computational complexity of O(K logK) for a multidimensional, K-sparse signal. While FPS-SFT considers the ideal scenario, i.e., exactly sparse data that contains on-grid frequencies, in this paper, by extending FPS-SFT into a robust version (RFPS-SFT), we emphasize on addressing noisy signals that contain off-grid frequencies; such signals arise from radar applications. This is achieved by employing a windowing technique and a votingbased frequency decoding procedure; the former reduces the frequency leakage of the off-grid frequencies below the noise level to preserve the sparsity of the signal, while the latter significantly lowers the frequency localization error stemming from the noise. The performance of the proposed method is demonstrated both theoretically and numerically.

The Radon Transform on SO(3): A Fourier Slice Theorem and Numerical Inversion
The inversion of the one–dimensional Radon transform on the rotation group SO(3) is an ill posed inverse problem which applies to X–ray tomography with polycrystalline materials. This communication presents a novel approach to the numerical inversion of the one–dimensional Radon transform on SO(3). Based on a Fourier slice theorem the discrete inverse Radon transform of a function sampled on th...

Micro-rotation confocal microscopy is a novel optical imaging technique which employs dielectric fields to trap and rotate individual cells to facilitate 3D fluorescence imaging using a confocal microscope. In contrast to computed tomography (CT) where an image can be modelled as parallel projection of an object, the ideal confocal image is recorded as a central slice of the object correspondin...
متن کاملA novel extension of the parallel-beam projection-slice theorem to divergent fan-beam and cone-beam projections.
The general goal of this paper is to extend the parallel-beam projection-slice theorem to divergent fan-beam and cone-beam projections without rebinning the divergent fan-beam and cone-beam projections into parallel-beam projections directly. The basic idea is to establish a novel link between the local Fourier transform of the projection data and the Fourier transform of the image object. Anal...

The analysis of 3D discrete volumetric data becomes increasingly important as computation power increases. 3D analysis and visualization applications are expected to be especially relevant in areas like medical imaging and nondestructive testing, where elaborated continuous theory exists. However, this theory is not directly applicable to discrete datasets. Therefore, we have to establish theor...
متن کاملRendering using the Fourier Projection - Slice Theorem
The Fourier projection-slice theorem states that the inverse transform of a slice extracted from the frequency domain representation of a volume yields a projection of the volume in a direction perpendicular to the slice. This theorem allows the generation of attenuation-only renderings of volume data in 0 (N2 log N) time for a volume of size N 3 • In this paper, we show how more realistic rend...
